Tonight the family got together and celebrated little Crewser's second birthday. We ate a delicious dinner and watched Crew open his presents from Grandma and Grandpa. He had to try on the outfit from Grandma and was excited about the monkey on his shirt!
Then Rett brought out the cute tractor cake Jenn made and Crew blew out his number 2 candle. It was so fun to see him look at the cake, and even more fun to watch him eat it! He was trying to fit the entire slice in his mouth all at once so Grandma had to help him out. He's such a cheeseball! But it was a blast being able to spend some time with him. It's amazing how fast he and Drake are growing!
I leave in two weeks for Alaska and will really miss my nephews!

My final portfolio has been turned in!
Today at 1:00 I turned in my Creative Writing final portfolio! I feel as if a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Not to say that I didn't enjoy the class because it was probably my favorite one this semester. But it is nice to not have to worry about writing and just focus on my last two finals. When I went to my professors office to hand everything in, she paid me a great compliment by saying that I really have a talent and hopes that I stick with it. After going through this semester questioning whether the English major is right for me, her words were very encouraging. At least now I feel like I'm headed in the right direction. :-)
Monday morning will be my British Literature final which is over Modern and Post-Modern writers such as James Joyce, T.S. Eliot, Virgina Woolf, and Doris Lessing. I think as long as I can use my weekend to study for it, I'll do fine. I've really enjoyed that class as well. My professor has brought up some interesting discussions and I feel that I've really learned a lot. I enjoy the open discussions in these classes because it brings about opportunities to learn from each other. I love hearing other peoples opinions on things, as long as they're not trying to force them on me! haha...
Then finally on Wednesday I'll have my French final and be done! This class has been quite a challenge for me, seeing how it's the first foreign language I've tried to learn. I've become more aware that our English education system is truly lacking. When the professor is using terms like "reflexive verbs" and you have no idea what that even means in English, there's something wrong! We tend to learn English by speaking it instead of studying it. Therefore, we don't understand the core principles to it and it's really sad!
Anyway, this is the latest update on what I'm up to. I hope that everything is great with all of you!

..Meet me in Montauk..
I just finished watching Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for the millionth time and I think that it gets a little better every time I watch it. Which is impressive since I loved it the first go round.
If you haven't seen it, then you need to go to your nearest movie rental store and get it. Go on. I'll wait..............
Okay, so now we've all seen it. Isn't it a beautiful original love story? Having two strangers fall in love, go through all the goods and bads, in a fit of impulse and revenge they erase each other from their memories, then rediscover their love in the same place they first met. It's such a great concept that we'll find true love one way or another because we're drawn to it. I guess I'm just a hopeless romantic...
I adore Joel and Clementine, Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet were PERFECT.
Joel is so awkward and shy in the beginning but you see a whole new side of him as he struggles to let go of his cherished memories of Clementine. I love when they devise the plan to hide deep in his childhood memories and he's the 4 year old boy hiding under the table, crying for his mother then stops and says, "I really want her to pick me up. It's amazing how strong that desire is." Then in an attempt to get him to calm him down, Clementine lifts up her skirt and shows him her underwear and says, "My crotch is still here, just as you remembered it." Joel looks at her disgusted and responds, "Yuck."
Clementine is the complete opposite of Joel, honest and upfront to the point that it's overboard. After first meeting Joel she tells him, "Look man, I'm telling you right off the bat, I'm high-maintenance, so... I'm not gonna tip-toe around your marriage, or whatever it is you've got goin' there. If you wanna be with me, you're with me."
Truly, I think that guys appreciate that type of honesty, especially over the stupid game playing that seems to go on in the dating world.
Anyway, some of my other favorite quotes are:
Joel: "random thoughts for Valentine's day, 2004. Today is a holiday invented by greeting card companies to make people feel like crap."
Clementine: "I'm a vindictive little bitch, truth be told!"
Clementine: "You don't tell me things, Joel. I'm an open book. I tell you everything, every damn, embarrassing thing." Joel: "Constantly talking isn't necessarily communicating."
Clementine: "Hi, I'm Clementine, can I have a piece of chicken? " Joel: "Then you just took it. It was so intimate. It was like we were already lovers."

Explosion of Flavor
For those of you wondering how the Raw Food Diet has been going, well it's so-so.
I haven't kept with it as much as I would have liked, but I'm trying to average two raw meals a day.
This morning for breakfast I had yet another delicious Green Smoothie. I've become more brave with the spinach and am adding a lot more these days. I really don't taste it over the flavor of the banana and mango.
For lunch I just fixed a giant green salad. Who knew something so simple could taste soooo good?!
It was just lettuce, spinach, half of a tomato, 1/2 cucumber, radishes, kelp noodles, raw sunflower seeds and then I drizzled raw honey with a little olive oil over the top and added a little bit of raw coconut butter for a kick of flavor. It was seriously delicious! If you've never tried a salad with honey, I suggest giving it a try. It beats all those bad-for-you dressings that defeat the purpose of eating a salad in the first place. If you have something else you enjoy, I'm open to suggestions! :-)

April Showers - wait - April Snow Storms?
This morning when I woke up I could have sworn we were back in December. A snow storm came through town last night and left us 5 inches in Orem. CRAZY! I am so sick of the cold! I really would love for the sun to pay us a visit and stay awhile. But if the news is right, it should be a nice weekend. So hopefully I can get out and do something to enjoy it!
But for now, it's back to the homework. I have 25 pages due for my Creative Writing class, and I think I'm at 14 pages thus far, so I've got a ways to go. Wish me luck. ;-)

The Mirah Show
Last night I had the opportunity of seeing some great bands live.
The opening band was an instrumental band, they were talented but it was somewhat boring because it was such slow music. I don't recall their name, but they were from Virginia.
The second "band" was a girl named Melanie who has a solo project called "Tender Forever", she's originally from France but has been living in Portland. For a solo artist, she put on a great show. She used her laptop for the music tracks and sang and played keyboards on top of it. She even played drums with a Wii remote + nunchuck (using a program on her Mac) and it was really fun to watch. I was very entertained between her music, dancing, and jokes. (She had a song that she dedicated to her crush Beyonce, accompanied by pictures of Beyonce that she had photoshopped herself into. Very funny.)
Lastly it was sweet little Mirah. She has such a beautiful voice and kind personality. With it being a sold out show at the tiny venue Kilby Court, standing space was limited and if you're not in the front you can't see anything. Mirah kept asking if everyone was doing okay, and apologized to the people who couldn't see. She suggested, "If you can't see, maybe it'd be best if you just close your eyes and listen. That way you're not worrying about trying to see the whole time." Thankfully I didn't have to worry about it because I was in the front. At the end when she announced that it was the last song for the night, the crowd cheered and she asked everyone to close their eyes and keep clapping and when they opened their eyes she'd be back on stage for the encore. So everyone closed their eyes and cheered and voila, when they opened their eyes the band was still on stage ready to play one last song. For the encore, she began telling a story about her girlfriend going away to attend a Drill Team competition and how she wasn't able to go with her, but her girlfriend sent her a video text of a team dancing. She said, "I wondered why she sent me a video of these girls, but then I heard the music.. I knew that music.. I knew that music because I wrote it! They were dancing to my song." Then she began playing "The Garden" ending a great show.
