Breakfast: Fasted. Not really intentionally though, I was waiting to get my blood sugar tested so I didn't want to eat anything until afterwards. My levels are normal, it came in as 91.
Lunch: Fruit Smoothie. Strawberries, blackberries, banana, orange, ice, and spinach.
Snack: Whole tomato sliced up. Tasted so fresh! Also a handful of dates.
Dinner: Salad. I'm disappointed to admit that I cheated on this meal. I went out to dinner with T.J. and Dad at Wingers and got a salad that had pork in it. Then Dad bought the Asphalt Pie for dessert and I had a sample of it. Pas bien!
Tomorrow I will be back on track with no cheating!!!

Day 2
Exercise: 30 Minute Biggest Loser Cardio Workout
Breakfast: four mandarin oranges.
Lunch: salad with lettuce, spinach, green onions, radishes, mushrooms, tomatoes, sprouts, cucumbers and kelp noodles with lime juice squeezed over the top and a little bit of dressing (extra virgin olive oil, raw apple cider vinegar and raw honey mixed together.) Very Tasty.
I also snacked on some dates. (My new favorite treat!)
Dinner: another salad: lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, onions, green and red peppers with balsamic vinegar dressing. (Yum!)
Anyway, I feel that overall today went well but I did have to fight off some major cravings for Pizza and Mexican Food tonight!!!
2 days down, 5 more to go! :-)

THE DETOX HAS BEGUN!
Day 1
The detox kicks off with a 24 hr fast, which started last night at 6:00 and will end tonight at 6:00, at which point I will be able to eat a mono-fruit meal. (Preferably a type of melon, because citrus fruits will be harder on my stomach after fasting.)
In the past I've never been able to successfully fast, due to the awful migraines I get. (Which is just a side-effect of my body detoxing.) So far today I feel great! I really believe that by eating clean these last few days it has helped to prepare me for today!
Last night I decided that in order to make today a little easier on myself, I want to keep as busy as possible. So far it has worked fabulous! I've straightened up the kitchen, cleaned and vacuumed the family room, cleaned my bathroom and have started organizing my bedroom. (Which is the biggest task of all!) After I finish with that, I'm going to reward myself with a nice hot bath! Then possibly give myself a pedicure and watch Sex and the City! :-)
By the time I'm done with all of this, it will be time to eat again!
What an easy day!

Detox Experiment

So this last summer my friend Allison asked me about the dark spot in my eye and truthfully I had never noticed it before. But after becoming aware of it, I became curious to know what it was from. According to an Iridology Chart, the spot indicates that I have toxic ovaries/liver. (Great, I know!) This may or may not be the case, but I've decided I wanted to see if the spot will change at all after going through this detox. So I've taken my "Before" picture so you can all see, and hopefully it'll be gone/faded in a week!
If you're curious about the iridology chart here's a link to one to check out.

Raw Food Detox
After researching the pro's of a Raw Food Diet I've decided I want like to give it a try! I stumbled across the website: www.therawdivas.com and joined their Free 7 Day Detox Adventure. I'm getting really excited to do this, and I know my body will thank me for it! The nicest thing is that they give you a 5 day preparation before actually diving into the detox. This way I can mentally prepare myself for the decisions I'll be making, ensuring success. To ease myself into this, I'm trying to eat as raw as possible before it all begins. I've thought about binging and eating all those things that I won't be able to, but then it defeats the purpose of cleansing my body and getting all the toxins out. I've been discussing my questions and worries with my good friend Allison, and she's been so great in keeping me motivated! Essentially I would like to eat 100% raw for the week of detox and after that I hope to stay at around 80% raw. Yesterday was my first day of eating 100%! I'm so proud of myself, and it wasn't easy. Especially last night after eating my dinner salad and snacking on an apple watching TJ eat chocolate chip cookie dough. It looked so good! :-)
But like I said, I know that by sticking with it, my body will love me. I'm looking forward to having more energy and just feeling healthy! I'm even enjoying the "Green Smoothie", which looks unappetizing at first but is delicious! I made one yesterday and took a picture of it so you could see. It has a banana, orange, grapes, strawberries, blackberries, and a handful of spinach. It really is so refreshing! I made TJ try a sip and he was gagging just looking at it, he was acting like he was on Fear Factor. But after tasting it he agreed that it wasn't so bad. I'm really looking forward to making this lifestyle change and will keep you posted on how it's going!

SO LONG TO THE HOLIDAYS
Well, it's officially 2009 and the new year resolutions are in the making. Besides having the continued goal of losing weight and getting in shape I've been thinking about what I want out of this year. I've pondered about where I want to see myself a year from now, and what it will take to get me there. I've decided my main goal for this year is to travel and visit western Europe. Ideally, I would love to fly to Ireland, backpack my way across to Scotland, down to England, over to the Netherlands, down France and over to Italy. But I know this would take a lot of time and money, so I'm not sure if it's a realistic goal yet. So to be broad and general, I want to see Europe and finally get a stamp in my passport.
Another thing that I hope to achieve is passing all my classes with a B or higher. I'm enrolled at UVU as a full time student, majoring in English. I've decided to take French for my foreign language and am hoping to learn enough that when I visit France I'll be able to get around okay. Everyone asks why French? Why not Spanish? Well, to be honest... French is the language of love, and who doesn't love love? So while I'm sure learning a new language will be a great challenge for me, I'm looking forward to it and hope it's something that will benefit me in the future.
But the most pressing goal at the moment is to find a job. With the economy thinking we're in such bad shape, everything seems to be closing down. I've never had such a hard time finding a job before. No one is hiring, and the few that are seem to have all the choices they could want. I applied for a position for Alpine School District to be a Teachers Aid and when I went in for the interview, the principal told me that there were 30 people who applied for the one position. Times are tough. It makes it hard too, when you're looking for a part-time job that will work with a full school schedule. Seems like my options are so limited. I'm crossing my fingers something comes along soon to keep me afloat.
But as we all know, life is a journey. Every day will be different but I hope to enjoy them all the same!

Long time away...
It has been nearly six months since my last entry, and a lot has happened!
Alaska was everything I was hoping for.. and more!! I already miss the beautiful majestic mountains, the friends I made, and the memories of it all. If it's a possibility for me, I'd like to go back and do it again next summer. But if I'm unable to, I'm grateful for the opportunity I had to go and experience a different side of life.
Since being home, I've been enjoying spending time with friends and family. Every one has been keeping busy working/playing. But it's been really fun spending time with my nephews! I cannot believe how fast they grow! Crew is such a big boy now, he continues to amaze me with how smart he is and how well he understands things. He loves playing with his tractors and trucks and watching over Drake. It's such a special thing to see the love he has for his baby brother. As for Drake, he seems to be growing every day and his personality is really shining through. While Crew is running in circles, with more energy than I've ever had, Drake is as mellow as can be. He just loves being held and being able to watch his big brother play. I'm so blessed to have these boys in my life!
